In the past ten years we have witnessed creation and development of the Croatian commercial real estate market. On the Croatian market, the institutional developers have founded their association. The banking sector has developed commercial real estate project financing and architects and engineers have their own chambers. Also, the first real estate funds have been established in Croatia, and what is most important a large number of real estate development projects have been realized in all sectors: Housing, Retail, Office, Industry, Logistics and Tourism. We could say that the first phase of development of this market has been accomplished and that we have stepped into the next phase, which is supposed to be more organized, professional and transparent. Unfortunately, just at a time when the Croatian commercial real estate market has begun to enter the higher level of development, the international economic crisis has greatly affected domestic property market. Our position is that in such period we should put even more effort in improving all aspects of business. For this reason we have started a project of the International Real Estate Development Business Academy.
The aim of the Academy is to bring together, in one place, all the professionals who participate in commercial real estate development projects: developers, investors, project managers, architects, urban planners, engineers, real estate end users, bankers, assessors, lawyers and others. With new trends in development projects of commercial real estate in Croatia, there is a need for professional education and training of professionals and managers who participate in these projects. International standards and the ongoing need to enhance the project impose the need for professional education with a multidisciplinary approach.
